Just like you, everyone in this world wants to be success in life. But the most important thing is, what does being successful mean to you?
This is the story of a man’s 42 years of experience. And that’s why you should learn from his experiences. Because everyone has their own point of view. But the lessons learned from experience are very valuable for everyone. So let’s hear James’s story.
“My name is James. I’ve become a 42-year-old man. But I’m not the kind of old man who considers younger people less intelligent and thinks of himself as much wiser. Everyone is good and intelligent in their own way. I’m just sharing a story from my life that might help you understand what a truly successful person is.”
STORY (What is Success) :

This was back in those days, when I was 22 years old. My life up until the age of 22 wasn’t anything special. I just lived in my middle-class home in a small town. My days were spent in a routine, living under my parents’ roof and doing a little studying. But when I was about 22, I told my family that I wanted to go to the city and live in a separate room to study. My family used to taunt me every day, saying that I just wasted my time sitting at home all day. So, at my request, they sent me to a big city for my studies.
As I mentioned, I was from a middle-class family. So, they talked to some relatives who lived in the city to find a room with low rent. Then one day, my aunt called and said that there was a house near her old house where the landlord was renting out a room. An elderly man and a couple lived there. After that, my father arranged for me to get a room in that house at a low rent.

My arrival in the room:

It was my first day in my new room. The room was small and a little strange. Because it wasn’t like the other rooms at all. The room was something like this – large windows on all sides, a very high foam bed for sleeping, and a very large and old clay statue hanging on the wall above. That large statue had six statues within it: a farmer, a merchant, a criminal, an officer, a beggar, and a student.
The next morning, I went to the old man who lived in the room next to mine. I asked him about the statues. He looked at me for a while and then asked me to sit on the chair in front of him. He asked, “What have you come here to do?” So I said, “I’ve come to study.”
He smiled slightly and said, “I’m not your father, you can tell me the truth. Tell me, son, why have you come here…?”
I told him the whole truth :
After a moment’s pause, I spoke my heart out. “I don’t know why I’m here. Because I just want to do something with my life, and my family life is a distraction. It doesn’t let me realize how time is passing. But to spend my whole life with this distraction… isn’t that wrong? And my family taunts me, saying that boys my age around here either have government jobs or earn a lot of money. And you just sit at home all day.
I was tired of all these taunts. Now I’ve decided that I’ll earn a lot of money here and send half of it to my family. And I’ll live my life with my own money. I want to be successful and see the world. And I want to enjoy life.”
Does work distract people? :
Old man: “Okay, I understand what you’re saying. You want to achieve something or do something by living among these strangers, away from the distractions of your family. Fine! But what can you really achieve in life? Get a private or government job, become a businessman, or whatever. Work at any level. But you’ll still be working, right? Isn’t that also a distraction?”

And yes, if you say that you can earn money in this distraction, then do you want to waste your precious life, which you get after centuries, in this rat race of making money? Don’t you understand that the biggest distraction for people in this world is money? This is our world. This land belongs to all of us, the trees and everything in nature are for all of us. We can grow food on our land and feed ourselves and live happily with our families.
Because the world is not as big for a person as they think. Tell me, how many people have you talked to in your life? At most 200 or 250. Now, remove those people with whom you just had casual conversations. Those people you talked to but you don’t remember them anymore, even if you try to. After removing them, you’ll be left with at most 50 people. And from these 50, remove those you rarely meet. After separating them, your family and close friends (about 8-15 people) are your world. Meaning, your world is limited to your family and a few close friends.
Contentment is success :
You don’t need to run anywhere. Being with family or friends is not a distraction, but it might be life itself. They put pressure on you because you’re not earning money. Now, I won’t tell you to farm on the land in your village for money. Because of the foolishness of our ancestors and the corrupt governments of these countries that have been in power for centuries, everyone in this world hasn’t received equal resources.
But I want to explain to you that you shouldn’t spend your life just accumulating money. Because this difference between poverty and wealth has been created by foolish people. Even if you earn less money, if you can feed yourself and your family, and live happily with them, then that might be enough.
Because in this world, there is no end to money, prosperity, fame, or anything else. There is only one true end in this world, and that is… contentment (satisfaction)!

If you can find contentment and live a life full of happiness with your family and loved ones, then consider yourself successful!
Because there is no limit to luxury or wealth. If you consider these two things as the definition of success and strive for them, then your life will be nothing but struggle, without satisfaction.
And satisfaction (contentment) is the ultimate destination of all our desires, greed, and pursuit of luxury.
Wise man said on Success :
“If you don’t find contentment, you will remain lost…
In the end, you will remember the moments spent with your family,
and you will leave everything behind with tears in your eyes.”
I’m not saying don’t make money. Do whatever you want. Just keep satisfaction in your heart. Life will become easier.
Me: After hearing all this, I didn’t say anything and started to leave.
Old man: You are just like my grandson.
Me: Where does he live now?
old man said something profound about success:

My grandson Peter. His father, Robert (my son), had a big business at one time. He wanted to involve Peter in the business, just like himself. But peter was a little different. He didn’t want to become anything specific. He just wanted everyone to be treated equally. he thought about many things. And whatever he thought, he would come and tell me.
He used to say, “What is the difference between a rich and a poor person? I want to help the poor and helpless people.” And I used to say, “What can you do alone?”
Then, for a few days, Robert called Peter to the company to explain the work to him. In one or two years, he learned quite a lot. When Robert felt that his son understood everything, he transferred the business to Peter’s name.
Only a few months passed after that when Peter created his own charity fund. And a few days later, Peter sold his entire company. He gave everything to the company’s workers and for the development of some poor people.
Satisfaction can be the key to success:
Peter’s mother and Robert were very upset by this act. They would taunt Peter for hours every day, saying, “Now who will earn money to feed you?” Peter didn’t say anything; he remained silent. But I knew he was happy inside. Because his thinking was, “My parents have enough money to live their own lives, and I have achieved the goal in my life that has given me satisfaction.” Satisfaction is the truth.
The room you are staying in belonged to my grandson. And the large statue you are talking about was made by my grandson. That statue shows that whether a person is rich or poor, an officer, a farmer, or a businessman… none of that matters. These are just ways of life. These achievements do not show whether a person is successful or unsuccessful, because satisfaction is success.
